Reports have come in Saturday afternoon about a wildfire in the Blue Creek area.

Fritch Volunteer Fire Department are evacuating residents of Bugbee and Hutchinson County Emergency Management issued a Fire Warning for the area.

Officials are also evacuating the campgrounds around Lake Meredith, especially the sites on the north side of the lake.

The shelter site for evacuees is Celebration Church in Fritch, 811 E. Broadway St.

The fire is being called the Blue Hills Fire.

By 7:37 p.m. Sunday the fire was 85% contained and has burned 3,868 acres.

At 1:38 p.m. Sunday the Blue Hills Fire was 80% contained.

As of 7:53 p.m. Blue Hills was 70% contained.

At 5:22 p.m. Texas A&M Forest Service updated the fire to 3000 acres and 50% contained.

Around 4:30 p.m. the fire was reported to be 5% contained and still 300 acres.

As of 3:23 p.m. the fire had grown to 300 acres and 0 % contained.

At 2:54 p.m. Saturday it was at 10 acres and 0% contained, with the fire front moving NE at 3 to 5 mph.

Everyone is advised to avoid the area and avoid creating sparks.

TFS deployed two single-engine airtankers from Dumas to assist in the fire.

A Large Air Tanker (LAT) from Abilene has been deployed to help with the fire as well.

Borger and Stinnett fire crews are also currently involved with assisting this fire.

Winds are sustained at 20-30 mph with gust up to 45 mph.

These windy conditions combined with the dry, warm weather create peak wildfire conditions.
