AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The armed robbery of an AutoZone was an inside job, according to Amarillo police.
The AutoZone at 5010 S. Coulter Street was robbed around 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said a man came into the store, threatened employees with a gun, and demanded the money from the registers.
He also took some Monster energy drinks and other merchandise before leaving.
Officers searched the area and were unable to locate a suspect.
Violent crimes detectives were then called to the scene. They determined one of the employees, Brian Cook, who was claiming to be a victim. was "complicit" in the robbery.
Cook, 33, and Kenneth Wells, 40, were arrested on two counts of aggravated robbery.
The same location was robbed on Feb. 5. A reward is being offered in that case.
