AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A fire at the Family Dollar at 831 Martin Road on Saturday night caused $20,000 in damages.
The fire happened at about 6:47 p.m.
The Amarillo Fire Department responded to the fire and found light smoke visible from the front door of the commercial strip mall.
Amarillo Police Department officers and the store manager confirmed that all occupants had evacuated safely.
Firefighters initiated suppression efforts, locating the fire in the front corner of the store. The flames were quickly extinguished and searches of the building confirmed no one was inside.
Horizontal ventilation was conducted to clear the smoke and the fire was declared under control shortly after.
No injuries were reported.
The fire resulted in an estimated property loss of $5,000 and content loss of $15,000, with no further damage to surrounding businesses in the strip mall.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire’s cause, which remains undetermined at this time.
