Evacuation orders were lifted overnight.

Hwy 136 between Roosevelt Street and the Fairlanes intersection will remain closed at this time. Please utilize FM1551 if necessary.

You will continue to see smoke in the area. The Double S Fire, west of town, was 500 acres and 50-percent contained as of 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.

As of 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, there were more than 6,200 power outages in Hutchinson County.



Original Story

Evacuations have been ordered in Borger because of a wildfire west of the city, moving toward the east.

It started in the area of 1559 and Rock Creek.

Those who live north of 3rd Street and west of Cedar Street, including the Rock Creek, Gateway, and Golf Course additions should evacuate to locations east of Cedar Street(Hwy 207).

The Municipal Court Building at 611 Weatherly is open with a backup generator.

Roughly 6,000 people in Borger are without power.
