GRAY COUNTY, Texas (KVII) — An Arizona couple was killed in a three-vehicle crash on I-40 near Alanreed on Friday morning.
The crash happened at about 11:38 a.m. about five and a half miles west of Alanreed.
A 2018 Kia Soul was traveling eastbound on I-40 and a 2014 Kenworth semi-truck and flat-bed trailer was disabled in the left lane due to a previous crash.
Blowing dirt and a nearby wildfire dropped the visibility to extremely low leading to the Kia colliding with the back of the semi's trailer.
A 2018 Freightliner semi and trailer traveling eastbound then hit the back of Kia.
Both occupants of the Kia Soul, William Kraig, 67, and Richene McKaig, 73, both of Phoenix, Ariz., were pronounced dead at the scene.
There were no other injuries from this crash.
